FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Answer: No, the BimmerFix Stent is what is used to stop the common BMW N62 Weep Hole leak. The aluminum alloy “Stent” creates an impenetrable, long lasting, repair. However, the BimmerFix Cooling System Sealant and Conditioner can be added to the Cooling System, if desired, to stop leaks from the Rear Coolant Passage Cover (# 5) (which requires the removal of the transmission to repair), and the Valley Pan Gasket (#1). The Cooling System Sealer can also be added as a preventative measure and can remain in the Cooling System to help prevent future leaks.
Answer: No, it is not possible for a bad Rear O-ring to cause an external Engine Coolant leak. The Rear O-ring is a pressure neutral O-ring, and does not actually “seal” the Coolant from leaking outside of the Engine Block. The Rear O-ring is to provide cushioning and stability to the Coolant Transfer Pipe, so that the back side (rear side) of the Coolant Transfer Pipe does not vibrate and rattle around lose inside of the Engine Block.
Answer: The BimmerFix Coolant Pipe Repair System can be purchased directly from our website by selecting the SHOP page. However, you can also purchase this item on eBay.com, (from the Seller ID BimmerFix), and also at Amazon.com, (sold by BimmerFix Products Company). The price for the complete BimmerFix Coolant Pipe Repair System is the same on all websites, and includes free USPS Priority Mail (2-3 business days) shipping in the USA. USPS Express Mail (1 business day) and USPS International shipping is also available on all websites at an additional cost.
Answer: The best way to estimate the cost of installing the BimmerFix Cooling Pipe Repair System is to ask your mechanic the cost of the shop labor and materials to replace the Water Pump (not including the actual cost of the Water Pump itself, unless this is to be replaced at the same time), and then add one or two hours of additional shop labor, to actually install the BimmerFix Stent. Some Timing Chain Covers may require more sanding and preparation time that others, using the BimmerFix Sanding Rod and Cleaning Rod (which are included with the kit). That is why we recommend allowing one or two hours of shop labor time for the installation of the actual BimmerFix Stent.
Answer: The BimmerFix System can be installed by any auto repair shop or skilled do-it-yourself vehicle owner who can change the Water Pump. If your Mechanic is not familiar with the BimmerFix System, they can call BimmerFix Technical Support at (520) 544-4400. A list of auto repair shops that specialize in BMW repairs in the USA can be found at www.BimmerShops.com. If you are in Canada, go to www.ca.BimmerShops.com.
Answer: Yes. If there ever did come a time when the BimmerFix Stent needed to be removed, it is possible to remove the Stent by removing the Water Pump, and then pulling the old Stent out, with a Hook Tool. BimmerFix can provide this Hook Tool to Customers upon request. The Stent is held in place with a high quality, high temperature, high oil resistant silicone. The Stent is NOT permanently bonded or epoxied to the Timing Chain Cover or the Coolant Transfer Pipe.
Lifetime Money-back Warranty
This Lifetime Warranty is extended to the original Buyer of record, for as long as that Buyer is the owner the car. Our success rate is over 97%, so this repair will hopefully last you a lifetime!
If you ever experience a new leak from the Coolant Transfer Pipe Seal through the “weep hole” in your Timing Chain Cover, please call the BimmerFix Customer Service Department at 1-520-544-4400. You will be required to provide proof of the new leak by making a short video of the “weep hole” leak on your smart phone, and then email the video to BimmerFix. Once we review your video, and verify the new “weep hole” leak, you will be offered your choice of receiving a free replacement BimmerFix kit and Stent removal tool, or you can remove the Stent with the removal tool, and return the Stent and unused portion of the kit to receive a 100% money-back refund for your original purchase price. Buyer pays return shipping. The cost of “rush shipping” or “international shipping” fees is not covered by this Warranty and will not be refunded.
Only the Coolant Transfer Pipe Seal leak from the “weep hole” in the Timing Chain Cover is covered under this Lifetime Warranty. Leaks from other parts of the cooling system, such as the Rear Coolant Passage, Valley Pan Seal, Alternator Housing Gasket, or any other parts of the cooling system are NOT COVERED BY THIS LIFETIME WARRANTY.
Remember, it is recommended, but NOT REQUIRED, to add the bottle of BimmerFix Cooling System Sealant and Conditioner, in order to stop future coolant leaks coming from the Coolant Transfer Pipe Seal. This Cooling Pipe Seal leak is repaired by the installation of the BimmerFix Stent, but the bottle can be added as a preventative measure to help reinforce the BimmerFix Stent repair.
We do recommend adding the bottle of BimmerFix Cooling System Sealant and Conditioner as a preventative measure. If you have an engine coolant leak from the Rear Coolant Passage, Valley Pan Seal, Alternator Housing Gasket, or any other cooling system leak, then it is necessary to add the bottle of the BimmerFix Cooling System Sealer and Conditioner to the upper radiator hose. Do not add the bottle to the Expansion Tank Coolant Reservoir!! Once the bottle is added to the upper radiator hose, then it is necessary to drive the vehicle for approximately 200 miles after the installation of the bottle of BimmerFix Cooling System Sealant and Conditioner in order to stop the leak. The 200 miles does not have to be continuous driving. It can be in 5 or 10 mile intervals, as part of normal driving.
This Warranty only covers the original purchase price of the product. This Warranty DOES NOT cover labor charges for installing the product, removing the product, or any incidental costs. Please verify you have a BMW N62 V-8 engine before purchasing this product.
